Social Programme

The social programme will provide delegates with a fantastic opportunity to catch up with colleagues and make new connections. 

Opening Ceremony of the 12th HOPE Congress will take place at Seaplane Harbour between 20:00-23:00 on Tuesday May 12. Drinks and nibbles will be provided for all delegates. If you have never danced under a real submarine – now is the chance!

The Gala Dinner also known as HOPE2020 Party will take place on the evening of Thursday 14 May at the Old Town where you will find original cobblestone streets dotted with medieval churches and grandiose merchant houses. A full three course dinner, drinks and entertainment will be provided for guests during the Gala evening. The unique atmosphere of the Old Town plus oustanding food will make the HOPE2020 Party an occasion to remember. 


Tallinn Bay sightseeing cruise under the sails. No kidding! Please bring warm clothes and you will see Tallinn from a completely different angle. 


Classic 3-hour sightseeing tour by coach (for extra fee)  in Tallinn will take you to admire the busy city centre, classical Soviet style housing quarters, idyllic wooden districts, mansions of the wealthy citizens and shabby suburbs.

You will see the modern city centre with skyscrapers, Freedom Square, National Library and Opera House. You will visit the romantic Kadriorg Park area and will see baroque palace/ no entrance/; look at the lovely wooden suburb also named Kadriorg. Further on you will see numerous block buildings of the Soviet era living district Lasnamäe, drive by the TV tower and look at the peaceful residences of the wealthy people.

Down by the sea you can enjoy the view from Pirita beach and get to see the Song Festival Grounds and the Olympic Village, where in 1980 the Moscow summer Sailing Olympic Regatta took place. Nearby lies the popular Pirita beach and the romantic ruins of St. Bridget’s Convent. 

Guided walking tour of Tallinn will take you in the highlights of the UNESCO World Heritage listed Old Town, admire the grand monuments of Town Hall Square; and see landmarks such as St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, St Olav’s Church, and Toompea Castle. You will explore the atmospheric Old Town of Tallinn, a wonder its cobbled streets, visit the St. Catherine Passage exc. You will hear you will hear awesome stories and legends about monks, maidens, beasts, ghosts, kings, and devils.
